The world of travel and hospitality has evolved since Covid-19, with brands realising that guests are looking
Montcalm East, Autograph Collection, is a new breed of hotel. With a mission to support its vibrant neighbourhood of East London, the property underwent an extensive refurbishment and reopened its doors in May 2021. Providing a creative hub for guests and visitors alike, the hotel also offers its own spa, Bokeh, which focuses on both classic and forward-thinking therapies.
“I feel that people are now looking for a 360-degree approach to wellness which ultimately includes mind, body and soul.” explains Eleanor Jeffrey, “Guests are more aware and open to therapies which previously they may have shied away from. We offer both Spiritual Healing and Tarot Reading at Bokeh and we are seeing a real interest from clients wanting to embrace this experience.”
Enter Tor Njamo, an intuitive, psychic tarot reader, founder of the Esoteric Studies Institute and the newest member of the hotel's in-house healer team. “I think I was at the right place at the right time.” he tells us of how he got his appointment “I met with Eleanor and gave her a reading and healing, she loved it, and the rest is history. Was it a coincidence or spiritually guided?!”
In addition to Tarot Readings, Tor offers Spiritual Healing; working with guests' auras and chakras, complimented by crystals, to rebalance and reset them. A note to the dedication of Montcalm's growing alternative offering, they also plan to run internal training for the team, led by Tor, so that more people can offer Spiritual Healing to the guests.
But what does the future hold for alternative wellbeing in hospitality? “Sleep and light therapies will become popular in the coming years,” Eleanor tells us “our approach to rest and relaxation has altered in our mindset since the pandemic and we are as a whole better educated on taking care of our own mental health. Forest bathing is also a trend that I’ve noticed becoming more accepted within the industry as well as halotherapy and movement therapy.”
Bokeh is open daily from 7am to 9pm with last entry at 8.30pm.
Tor will be at Montcalm East every Wednesday from 10am to 6pm, offering one-to-one Psychic Tarot Readings and Spiritual Healing.
