New Moon In Scorpioscope

Bolstered by action driven Mars, we’re moving forward at a rapid pace. But as we move towards another eclipse season, we must be conscious that not all truth is coming to light; what does this New Moon hold for us all?

I try to avoid publicly retrofitting Astrology to world affairs. But I have to say: the vision of COP26, and as I write, the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer taking to the stage to announce the financial model for a more sustainable future, is a good example as any for the manifestation of this week’s forces in motion.

This powerful political atmosphere aligns with the representation of the Scorpio’s new moon in opposition to Uranus in Taurus, the latter being an aspect that has signified revolution and innovation in all things material since late 2018; the earth, material wealth, and our values.

Bolstered by action driven Mars, we’re moving forward at a rapid pace. But as we move towards another eclipse season, we must be conscious that not all truth is coming to light. There will always be a game of smoke and mirrors when it comes to implementing change, the likes of which we’ve never before experienced. Are we seeing a sustainability conference rooted in progress, or are we seeing one that behind closed doors, is still about corporate control?

Pledges are indeed being made, but net zero carbon timelines are being pushed back (will we still be here in 2070?! I'll be 84 by then...), and to add to the distraction, Elon Musk has auspiciously weighed in to offer $billions to those who can solve world hunger. We are witnessing power play on a global scale; an invitation to have a seat at the table to discuss how we change the world, and more importantly, how we split the bill. Scorpio is the fundamentals of life. It means sex and death. But it also means inheritance & taxes.

Millennials will be all too familiar with this transformative energy. If you are born between 1983 – 1995 Pluto will be in Scorpio in your natal chart, and if you’re born in 1983 - late 80s, this new moon is likely to be in conjunction with your natal Pluto, giving a power punch to whatever you set you in motion with this cycle. This intense natal placement is a natural force giving us the chance to push our limits and see what happens when we embark on our quest for control. Pluto rules Scorpio, a sign whose base expressions are destruction, annihilation, and abuse of power. The higher expressions of this sign are purification, transformation, rebirth - a blazing phoenix rising from the ashes. My message for you on this first new moon of ‘The Witches Year’ is to keep it simple;

Clear the f***ing space, get aligned to your power, and commit to beginning again.

Sweeping in behind Sunday’s Samhain celebrations, the activity needed this week is alchemy. What can you write down, tear up, BURN, and release? The Scorpio darkness is the place to share your secrets, be honest about your desires, and create fertile ground for sowing the midwinter seeds, ripe for Spring.

Whenever we set intentions for a new moon like this, our spiritual hygiene needs to be spotless. We aim for the greatest outcome of this situation. A blend of truth, values, and highest good offers the counter-balancing balm to Scorpio’s possessive, obsessive and devil may care tendencies. At the time of this new moon Mercury in Libra forms a helpful sextile to Venus at the very last degree in Sagittarius – balanced communications and a passion for the bigger vision are available here to support your wishes.

My last point relates to issues around control and revolution. It wouldn’t be 2021 if we didn’t talk about the Saturn in Aquarius Square to Uranus in Taurus, which has dominated the past eleven months and will show it’s force for the third and final time on Christmas Eve. With the regulation of social media (ranging from hate speech to misinformation to shadow banning), lockdown restrictions for better or for worse, and, um, Bitcoin, we see in real time how boundaries in our communities and revolution in our material world have been the key messages for 2021.

As we look ahead to 2022, it’s critical to review the things we’ll stand for and the innovations that work for good. Questions to ask at this new moon include

where does my transformative power lie? How can I use it to create light in the dark? And when this moon shines full in the midst of a bountiful Taurus season, how can I align my power to ensure I am supporting my values?
