Gemini Full Moon & Capricorn New Moon Special

While these two archetypes shouldn’t normally be sat side by side at the Christmas party, Eleanor O’Leary tells us how Gemini & Capricorn can learn from one another.

Taking place hours before the Winter Solstice, this Gemini full moon on the 19th December waves goodbye to a period of time where the duality of instant information vs big picture thinking has dominated our collective field. Now is the time to look at the areas of your life where you feel that words hold the most power; how has the Gemini North Node and Sagittarius South Node shaped a more authentic communication style and revisited a quest for purpose?

Mars is conjunct the South Node in Sagittarius, so utilize this warrior’s fiery energy to sweep through and alchemize any outdated philosophies that can be released with the full moon’s waning light.

While January will see the nodes making the Taurus/ Scorpio axis home until 2023, don’t be fooled into thinking that the fizzy frenzy of Gemini’s innovative and mental energy has gone for good. Things are about to get “Meta”, and the past eighteen months have shown us the need to balance Earth and the Ether; how we define our own reality against the backdrop of new virtual realities will be important.

Speaking of earth, this full moon glows in the final degrees of Gemini, forming an unlikely pairing with a busy Capricorn season. While these two archetypes shouldn’t normally be sat side by side at the Christmas party, the Gemini full moon brings levity to Capricorn’s so so serious nature, while Capricorn season shares with Gemini a thing or two about sustained efforts and being grounded to achieve success. Gossipy Mercury has arrived to join Venus and Pluto, the power couple forming a conjunction in the corner. As mentioned in the last moonscope, these two are rooting down into our foundations to transform structures, and with Venus’ upcoming retrograde in Capricorn reviewing values and desires.

Remember, it’s ok to have a change of heart.

Next door, Jupiter’s jubilant leaving party in Aquarius forms a trine to our Gemini full moon and a sextile to the Sagittarius sun. Raising a glass to the expansive efforts of Aquarius’s collaborative and collective nature in 2021, Jupiter’s next leadership role will be in Pisces from 28th December.

Stick a dream journal and pair of goggles on your Christmas wish list; Jupiter is taking us swimming in psychic and subconscious waters next year.

Finally, the good news is Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus square off for One. Last. Time. in a hat trick that has dominated 2021. The bad news is we have to deal with it. December 24th is indeed the night before Christmas, and it’s also the date of this final square that brings tension between boundaries and communities. If these moonscopes bring anything it’s the message to stay centered in the storm. The thing I love about Astrology is there’s rarely ‘good’ and ‘bad’; just expansion into new unique territories. No two moments are the same. Saturn can mean boundaries but it also means time, Uranus can mean rebellion but it also means innovative ideas. Perspective is the thing we use to look at any given situation, so take your time, let your bright ideas shine, and remember that whatever happens, this time of year offers permission to be still in the darkness ahead of the return of the light.

The new moon in Capricorn takes place on 2nd January, nicely complementing our Gregorian calendar.

This kind of line up rarely happens so when it does, see it as an auspicious moment for the fresh beginnings that we normally associate with the (falsely constructed but still prevalent) New Year New You energy.

The sky is relatively 'quiet' today but the trine formed between sun, moon and Uranus in Taurus imbues New Years' resolutions with the power to materially manifest your big ideas.

See you on the otherside x
