Full Moonscope: It's Taurus' Moment

"Today’s Taurus Full Moon not only shines its light in this earthly sign but also because we are experiencing a deeply Taurean moment in history" - Eleanor O'Leary takes us through this auspicious Full Moonscope.

While I don’t have a ‘favourite sign’, I have to admit, I’ve never met a Taurus I didn’t like. Grounded, luxurious and loving, the Venusian quality of this sign asks us to respect our loves and our lives, our values and our valuables. This reliable and nurturing nature makes for best friendships and nourishing memories.

I say this because today’s Full Moon not only shines it’s light in this earthly sign but also because we are experiencing a deeply Taurean moment in history.

With a once in a lifetime placement, Uranus, planet of innovation, revolution and ‘mad genius’, has been calling this earthly sign home since 2018. Our forensic focus on sustainability, finance, and our value system is not a cosmic coincidence. If you are considering how you bring more of a grounded, fair and loving nature to your 9-5, you’d be right to craft a five-year plan with respect for the planet, people and purpose.

Because giving our earth the love and respect it deserves is not a trend.

Today’s full moon at 27 degrees of Taurus culminates both a six month cycle which started on 11th May, and also peers back at the past fortnight’s COP26 conference which began around the same time as the Scorpio new moon. With an eclipse season known for cover ups and ‘all is not what it seems’ suspicion, are we convinced that our efforts meet the high standards of one of the Zodiac's most discerning signs? You decide.

Today’s full moon forms a conjunction to the North Node, which is currently working its way through Gemini, set to cross into Taurus in January 2022. (More on that to come, but see it as a confirmation that we will not be done with the Taurean influence for a few years yet). Right now however, chatty Gemini is still holding court. Collectively we’ve been looking towards this fast paced, informative and mentally energetic sign since May 2020, and now with both Moon and North Node crossing paths on the Taurus / Gemini cusp, communication around Sustainability is supercharged.

But this conjunction is not without opposition. Mercury & Mars are making plans of action in Scorpio, along with the Sun and the South Node (the ‘where we’ve been of the zodiac”).  While this cosmic clique won’t last too long, it does mean that Scorpio’s desire for power, transformation and a keen focus on ‘others’ resources’ clashes with our progressive Uranus in Taurus placement. In my last moonscope for Otherness I wrote about the Scorpio / Taurus duality and the balance between “our earth” and “others’ money”.

This energy is one to watch. With the nodal influence, I feel there is a karmic energy to this Full Moon, and the powers that be know it.

On a more personal level, those of us who have been reeling from the recent Mars Square with Saturn can start to breathe a sigh of relief. The fast paced planet of action is loosening its grip with the slower moving planet of boundaries and foundations. If you’ve been feeling the grind–to-a halt tension between where you want to be and where you’re at right now, it's time to take a breather.

Not for too long though. This week, the Sun and Mercury (teaming up in Scorpio) and the Taurus Moon form a square to Jupiter. On a paint-by-numbers level, this means that themes of identity, emotion and communication may be squaring up to the beneficial but sometimes reckless nature of HRH Jupiter. This will mean different things for different people, but with Jupiter in Aquarius since mid-May (and complementing the dates for our Taurus moon cycle), now’s the time to think about how we’re showing up, supporting and communicating with our communities – was 2021 the year you found your tribe? Perhaps it’s time to get back to the drawing board and pivot your approach ahead of the final Saturn x Uranus square on 24th December.

But of course it’s not all doom and gloom.

Trines always sweeten the process. This full moon trines Pluto in Capricorn; the latter isn’t typically the friendliest placement but there’s something to be gained from the tough love and transformation of the past few years, and this Full Moon wants you to see the ways in which it’s paid off. Mercury in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces form a mystic twosome, while Venus in Capricorn trine Uranus in Taurus offers grounding and support for your values systems.

Finally Venus forms a sextile to Mars. The goddess of love soothes our fiery warrior who has been highly prolific over the past few weeks aggravating situations and generally kicking up shit you would rather it didn’t. The yin and yang harmonises for a moment. Take advantage of this fleeting fling and ask yourself where in life you balance your desires with your action?

If you’ve read this far and you want to know what to DO this full moon, remember, FULL moons signal a moment of peak energy, so as it now moves into the waning stages, it’s more a time for reflection and gentle release. The dark moon will be with us in a fortnight, followed closely by the new moon in Sagittarius (another secret favourite sign of mine) so release, reset and get ready to reimagine with the fire sign's Philosopher.

See you then x
